Every year, 1/3 of the food we produce around the world is thrown away, accounting for 8% of all greenhouse gas emissions. Unfortunately, we are not exaggerating when we say that food waste is one of the most serious issues confronting the globe today.
In fact, food waste costs $1 trillion a year and weighs 1.3 billion tonnes, corresponding to an area larger than China being used to grow food that is never eaten. Even just one quarter of the total food wasted in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe could alone feed the world’s one billion hungry people.

Samos Deli Ibiza have been Awarded
Our bakery, Samos Deli produces fresh cakes, pastries, loaves of bread, quiches, and artisan sandwiches on a daily basis that are almost always declared unsellable after 24 hours. Our bakery and delicatessen therefore regularly faces food waste problems, whereby we decided we must resolve the issue head-on.
Partnering with Too Good To Go allows us to sell any leftovers at our bakery and delicatessen via the app before we close at the end of the day. Those beautifully baked items that would have otherwise gone to waste are now instead given a second chance to be consumed at a fraction of the price.
